Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of early enteral nutrition(EEN) in the treatment of patients with severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).Methods Patients with SAP in intensive care unit(ICU)of the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College admitted from Jan. 2003 to Oct. 2013 were studied retrospectively. According to the start time of enteral nutrition, the patients was divided into EEN group (n=23) and NEEN group(n=22). On admission, treatment of section 7d and section 14d,the levels of serum blood albumin(BAlb), blood glucose(BG), blood calcium(BCA),C reactive protein(CRP) and the score of APACHEⅡwere observed, and the length of ICU stay and prognosis were analyzed. Results With treatment, two groups of patients with clinical indicators were improved. In the treatment of 14 d, two groups of clinical indicators were significantly better than that at ICU admission (all P values<0.05 respectively). But all index in EEN group improved faster, in the treatment of 7 d, the APACHE Ⅱ, BS and BCA index in EEN group were better than those in NEEN group(all P values<0.05). In the treatment of 14 d, BALB, CRP, BS, BCA and the score of APACHE Ⅱof EEN group were better than those of the NEEN group (all P values<0.05). The length of ICU stay in EEN group was significantly less than that in NEEN group[(15.87±2.74)d vs (19.27±3.67)d, P=0.001)], but there was no significant difference in mortality between the two groups (8.7% vs 13.6%, P=0.958).Conclusions EEN is an effective way to cure patient with SAP, and deserves to be widely used.
