Abstract:Objective To provide anatomic parameters for bilateral zygomatic complex fracture, to discuss the correlation between the width of the lateral surface and the distance from fossa malar os-frontale to nasion through measuring related data of craniofacial bone of adult cadaveric head specimens. Methods The dry skull samples of 50 adult male and female were selected randomly, and the width of the lateral surface of adults and the distance from fossa malar os-frontale to nasion(fmo-n) were measured from January, 2010 to June, 2014. The anatomic parameters between different sex groups were observed. The correlation of the distance from zygion to median sagittal plane(zy-MSP) and fmo-n was also analyzed to set up a mathematical model. Results The zy-MSP of male group were 74.27-59.54 mm with the average of (67.55±2.45)mm, and female group were 69.29-60.02 mm with the average of (65.04±2.12)mm. The fmo-n of male group were 55.67-46.40 mm with the average of (50.80±1.93)mm, and female group were 53.41-46.19 mm the average of(49.64±1.66)mm. The zy-MSP and fmo-n values of male were greater than those of female. There were significant differences of zy-MSP and fmo-n between different sex groups. In the same sex group, zy-MSP and fmo-n have significant correlation (Rmale=0.821,Rfemale=0.809, all P values<0.01) . The regression equation of male and female were ^Y=1.046X+14.413 and ^Y=1.035X+13.662, respectively. Conclusions Fmo-n and sy-MSP have significant correlation in the same sex group. Taking the regression equation of Fmo-n and sy-MSP, we can provide anatomical parameters for bilateral zygomatic complex fracture.
