Abstract:Objective:To explore application, indications, complications, tumor risk and curative effect of modified radical operation of preserving nipple-areola complex (NAC) therapy for early stage breast cancer and provide the reference for its clinical application. Methods:Based on the clinical experience, related literatures about modified radical operation of preserving NAC therapy for breast cancer in recent years were searched in Wanfang, VIP, and PubMed databases. Oncology risks, indications, clinical application notes, complications and curative effect that deserved attention were discussed. Results:Modified radical operation of preserving NAC for early breast cancer could result in the same effects as classic modified radical operation based on the indication strictly gripped with better cosmetic appearances after restitution and better quality of life. The clinical application of it was not difficult to master and complications did not improve compared with the traditional modified radical mastectomy. Conclusions:Modified radical operation of preserving NAC for early breast cancer can result in the same effects as classic modified radical operation based on the indication strictly gripped with better cosmetic appearances after restitution and better quality of life, which provide a new method for surgical therapy for breast carcinoma.
