Abstract:Objective To summarize the research progress of Nuss procedure for pectus excavatum repair. Methods Related literatureson the databases such as PuMed, Wanfang database, CNKI were searched, using "pectus excavatum", "Nuss procedure" and "surgical treatment" as keywords, to consult related literatures about the Nuss procedure from January 2000 to February 2015, then summarize and analyze them and analysis. Results Pectum excavatum is a kind of chest wall pitting deformity, its pathogenesis is not yet clear. Nuss procedure is a kind of minimally invasive surgery in the treatment of funnel chest, with many advantages, such as small trauma, simple operation, less complications, surgical effect and so on. It has become the first treatment of the repair of funnel chest. With the development of Nuss operation and the improvement of the technology and equipment of thoracoscope, applicable scope of Nuss procedure expands unceasingly, the thoracoscope assisted Nuss technique has been widely used in clinical applications, with advantages of small surgical trauma, simple operation, and quick recovery. Conclusions Continuous research and development has brought great gospel to patients, however, in the specific clinical application, surgical choice has not yet been reached a consensus, the pathogenesis and specific issues of clinical application remain to be further discussed.
