Abstract:Objective To describe research progress on high frequency ultrasonic in the diagnosis of peripheral nerve injury and regeneration. Methods To search and consult all the literatures available by the key words of high frequency ultrasound, peripheral nerve injury and nerve regeneration in the database of Elsevier ScienceDirecr, EBSCO, wanfang and CNKI, all the literatures were comprehensively analyzed and summarized. Results Although approaches to diagnose nerve damage were countless, the clinical diagnosis of multiple planes nerve injury was difficult. Using ultrasonic before surgery could diagnose multiple planes nerve injury, avoid blindness of treatment and lower surgery numbers. Pre-surgery qualitative diagnosis and preoperative diagnosis would offer surgical approach more clearly. Conclusions Although with a quite mature acknowledge for nerve injury of peripheral nerve, it still remains controversial on surgical approach for nerve injury in the first place. Patients with different injury degree need to be taken care and given treatment as soon as possible, otherwise it's hard to get expected treatment result. How to get the morphology evidence of nerve injury before surgery is the pioneer part of high frequency ultrasound.
