Abstract:Objective To explore and analyze clinical features of patients with breast cancer treated with modified radical mastectomy by Auchincloss method in an effort to improve treatment.Methods Clinical data of 65 patients, who were treated with modified radical mastectomy by Auchincloss method in our hospital from January 2009 to March 2013, were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical stage I in 19 cases, 32 cases in stage II, 14 cases in stage III; lymph node metastasis in 29 cases.Results The mean operation time of patients was (164± 19.54 )min, the mean operation bleeding volume was(75±23.79 )ml, 14.63 lymph nodes removed during operation, intercostobrachial nerve preserved in 39 patients. Occurrence of subcutaneous hydrops after operation in 12 cases (18.46%), limb lymphedema in 2 cases (3.08%). With follow-up of 6 months to 4 years after operation, no recurrence, metastasis and death were found.Conclusions The modified radical mastectomy of breast cancer with Auchincloss method has advantages of simple operation, fewer postoperative complications, maintaining the chest plump shape , limb functions and good curative effect , there is no increasing risk of local recurrence.
