Abstract:Objective:To explore the safety and efficacy of Solitaire stent-assisted coiling of intracranial wide-necked aneurysms. Methods:8 patients with wide-necked intracranial aneurysms were treated with the Solitaire stent-assisted coiling. The clinical data of Solitaire stent application were evaluated retrospectively. Results:The Solitaire stent system was delivered and deployed accurately in eight cases without procedure-related complications. Patients were followed up for 6 to 24 months (mean 12.9 months), there were no deaths and no further bleeding and other symptoms of embolism during the follow-up. The long-term quality of life in patients was assessed by GOS score 6 months after surgery, and mild disability or good recovery rate was 87.5%(7/8). 1 year after surgery angiography showed that parent arteries and adjacent blood vessels of all patients were kept unblocked without shift of stent and coil. Seven patients underwent completely occlusion of the aneurysm; one patient was diagnosed as residual or recurrent of aneurysm. Imaging cure rate was 87.5%(7/8).Conclusions:The Solitaire stent-assisted coiling is a safe and effective technique in the treatment of intracranial wide-necked aneurysms.
