Abstract:Objective To summarize the research progress of total hip arthroplasty (THA) on the osteoarthritis secondary to developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).Methods With "developmental dysplasia of the hip, total hip arthroplasty" as key words to search literature data of DDH, osteoarthritis, THA from Wanfang database and PubMed from January 2009 to September 2015 were collected and analyzed. Results The anatomic abnormalities in DDH are very different in patients and include three aspects of acetabulum, femoral side and soft tissue. Correct evaluation of anatomic abnormalities in patients with DDH before THA surgery and proper treatment of acetabulum, femur end, and soft tissue during operation are crucial for improving the surgical curative effects. Conclusions The THA in patients with DDH needs to be careful preoperative planning, and individualized treatment strategy can improve the surgical effect.
