Abstract:Objective:To analyze the CT features and pathological manifestations of solid pseudopapillary tumors of the pancreas(SPTP). Methods:CT and clinical data of 6 patients (including 1 male and 5 females, aged from 15~44 y/o, mean age 24.5 y/o) with SPTP confirmed by pathology were reviewed retrospectively. All patients underwent CT plain and multiphase contrast-enhanced CT scanning. Results:In this group, there were 2 cases in the pancreatic head,1 case in the pancreatic body and 3 cases in the pancreatic tail with 1 case of liver and spleen multiple metastases,1 case of multiple liver metastases. On CT scanning, the tumors were about 3 cm×5 cm~11 cm×10 cm in size. Round or circular cystic-solid masses, the thin strips and punctate calcifications could be seen in one case peripherally, and patchy focal hemorrhage could be seen in 2 cases. When CT enhanced, the solid components of the lesion showed progressive enhancement with characteristic “floating clouds” sign. No bile duct or pancreatic duct expansion could be seen in all cases. The all tumors had complete or incomplete fibrous capsule at pathology examination, and consisted of solid area and pseudopapillary area. The tumor’s cells were consistent, with some areas of hemorrhage, necrosis and degenerative changes. Conclusions:SPTP is commonly seen among young women, it has certain characteristic CT manifestations, multiphase contrast-enhanced CT scanning are helpful for diagnosis and differential diagnosis of SPTP. Tumor cells to the axis of delicate fibrovascular branched form characteristic papillary architecture are its characteristic histopathologic changes.
