Abstract:Objective To discuss the research progress on compensatory mechanism of body to maintain sagittal balance when mismatch between pelvic incidence(PI) and lumbar lordosis(LL).Methods The key words “pelvic incidence”, “lumbar lordosis”, “sagittal balance” and “compensatory mechanism” were used to search the related literatures in PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang data from January 2000 to October 2017, and to consult the relationship between PI and LL, the body to maintain sagittal balance the compensatory mechanism. Results The lines of force parameters of the spine and pelvic sagittal mainly include LL, PI, pelvic tilt (PT), thoracic kyphosis (TK). There is a certain quantitative relation between the parameters. But because of race, age differences, there are differences between parameters of quantitative relations between different groups. The values of PI gender, racial differences, suitable for Chinese PI-LL value range are controversial. The compensatory mechanisms of body to maintain sagittal balance when mismatch between pelvic incidence and lumbar lordosis mainly include thoracic segment hyperextension compensatory, pelvic compensatory, knee flexion compensatory. Three kinds of compensatory mechanisms successively came into compensatory state, and interaction, maintaining the sagittal balance of the body together when sagittal imbalance. Conclusions Spine, pelvis, and lower limb joint maintain the sagittal balance of the body when pelvic incidence and lumbar lordosis mismatch. However, the specific quantitative relations among the parameters of spine, pelvis parameters, lower limb are not yet clear. Further research is still needed to find PI-LL which is suitable for Chinese.
