Abstract:Pancreaticoduodenal junction is the confluence of bile, pancreas, and intestine, where the anatomy is complex, the physiological function is important, and many kinds of operation are involved. Therefore, understanding the anatomy of the pancreaticoduodenal junction is important. The actual anatomy of a specimen of pancreaticoduodenectomy could provide concrete and intuitive details, such as how the pancreatic head and duodenum are connected, how the common bile duct and the main pancreatic duct penetrate into the duodenal wall, and how they come together after they penetrate into the duodenal wall. The concrete anatomy is elaborated in relation to surgical modes, which could serve as a guide in clinics.
